GHOSTBUSTERS GAME DELAY TO 2009

Dear Sony and Activision

We the fans of our beloved franchise, Ghostbusters have in the past week, been deeply troubled by news that has come forth concerning the state of the much anticipated Ghostbusters: The Video Game. Due to some unknown reason, Activision has decided not to publish the game under its own banner, and is now shopping the game around to other publishers, thus causing a delay in the games launch.

To make matters even worse, recent reports that Sony Pictures now wishes to delay the games launch further, so that it may come out on the 25th anniversary of the first films launch., which as of this time (July 31, 2008) is 10 months away were as before all of this, the game was due out in October of this year.

We as Ghostbusters fans feel we have been very patent with Sony regarding our much beloved franchise. For years, we as fans have been forced to build our own collectables, memorabilia, and props or deal with sub standard and lack luster collectables and products.

We also have for 19 years, (since the launch of Ghostbusters 2 in 1989) screamed through various outlets, for a 3rd Ghostbusters game, and have proven to you that there is indeed a demand for new material from our much beloved franchise, and for 19 years we have been ignored.

Now with the game, we finally have the closest we can expect to a 3rd film, and having excepted this compromise (and yes it is indeed a compromise, no video game, regardless how great it is, will ever take the place of seeing a much beloved film and characters in the theaters for the first time on a new adventure) you wish to further delay the game, which from our current understanding, is almost complete, simply for no other reason then a marketing campaign.

We find that outrageous and outright insulting, and quite frankly, we feel if Sony Pictures were to do that, it would ultimately hurt sales of the game.

What we want, as fans of our much beloved franchise, is for the game to be launched on time, or by December for the holiday season. This Also includes the launch of all Blu-Ray Discs and other forms of Media and Collectables.

We thank you for your time in reading our Petition and hope you understand that we as fans have waited long enough for our much beloved franchise, and we have no desire to wait needlessly simply due to a marketing campaign.
