Hooker Family Extreme Makeover Home Edition

This petition is for the Hooker Family of Maumelle, Arkansas. Dee, Mark, Shelby, Trevor, Courtney, and Hayden. This family has health problems brought on by a very unhealthy house. They were forced to move out of their home last year because of mold, asbestos, mildew, holes in their roof and walls, let alone they had no heat or a/c. They scraped enough money together, found another house and bought it. Soon they realized this home was no better.

Dee and Mark, the parents, have health issues and cant afford to fix the houses problems. When you have to chose between medications for their daughter and fixing the house, their daughter comes first. Their daughter, Shelby, was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. This past summer Shelby was diagnosed with cervical cancer, then this past week they got the news that now it looks like Shelby's thyroid cancer may have spread to her lungs or she has yet another cancer. The house has mold and is falling apart. The roof leaks, there are holes in the exterior walls, and the house stays cold during the winter because the duct work is so bad that what heat there is doesn't heat the entire house, let alone the bedrooms, and the furnace may not make it through the winter. Their sons girlfriend lives with them along with their two month old baby. Dee, being the giving person she is, took them in when they had no where else to go. This family has nowhere to turn. This house is making their daughter sick again. They just want a safer and healthier home for their daughter and grandson. This family has been stricken by cancer, illness, and now yet another house that is unhealthy to live in. This family needs our help.

The Hooker family has helped their community by being volunteer firefighters, EMT's, storm chasers, and helped with Hurricane Katrina relief. This family is the definition of giving, and now they need help. Please take a moment and sign this petition for the ABC Extreme Makeover Home Edition to come and help the Hooker family of Arkansas.
