We, the undersigned members and supporters of the Husker Athletic Department do hereby submit this petition in support of the "Removal of Steve Pederson as Athletic Director at the University of Nebraska" submitted as a formal complaint to NU Chancellor Harvey Perlman and the NU Board of Regents for what we believe to be a failure in regards to performance, achievement and sub-standard leadership from Mr. Steve Pederson since he was appointed Athletic Director.

It is the right of each supporter of Husker Athletics to publicly speak his or her voice, heard through this petition, to ask that Mr. Steve Pederson be removed as Athletic Director; by either resignation or outright dismissal. His ideas, methods and values are not consistent with what we come to expect from the university's Athletic Director or the university itself.

It is the responsibility of the Chancellor and Board of Regents at the University of Nebraska to uphold the standards, practices and beliefs of the students, personnel and fans. Mr. Pederson's actions and public statements have what we believe resulted in the deterioration of the football program and its fan base. Not to mention the reputation and image the University of Nebraska and it's athletic department once so proudly held.

In 2002 after Bill Byrne's resignation, Chancellor Perlman was quoted as saying "The next athletic director would need to mend fences with fans and donors".

While Steve Pederson may have mended fences with some donors and boosters, it is clear he has not mended fences with the fans and even some of the athletes. But rather allowed the fans and players to lose faith in the Athletic Department. Thus further illustrating in our opinion that he has not fulfilled his duties and obligations to the university and its fans. It is the fans like us who support the university financially without possibly having the ability to make donations.

Millions of Nebraska faithful across the country support the University of Nebraska Athletics financially in more ways than just making donations. We provide revenue by purchasing tickets to athletic events, purchasing concessions, and subscribing to pay-per-view events. Not to mention Husker merchandise and memorabilia being purchased as well. It is through these actions that our voice warrants merit and demands to be heard.

We the undersigned, agree that Mr. Pederson is an upstanding individual. And that this petition does not reflect on him as a person nor his family in any way. Our demand is based on a professional and performance level involving the University of Nebraska Athletic Department. With specific attention to the NU Football program. And our view shall forever remain that way.

Included in this demand for a full and fair hearing of the disputes contained in this complaint and petition is the demand for Chancellor Harvey Perlman and the NU Board of Regents to conduct themselves in a manner befitting the university. Diligence and Due Process are essential when And not in the manner in which recent personnel and coaching changes that have taken place were perceived.
