Joint Canadian Tanning Association: A Call to Action

Surprisingly however, the provincial government has not yet established a regulatory framework which would govern the indoor tanning industry. In short this means that there is no requirement in place to guarantee that the salon you choose to visit is operated professionally, by trained staff.
That's why we need your help. Professional salons across the province, as part of the Joint Canadian Tanning Association, are calling on the McGuinty government to introduce a system, which would:
- Require parental consent for those under 18.
-Mandate training and certification for all staff operating indoor tanning equipment.
- Protect our consumers by mandating skin typing for all clients.
- Ensure that only trained staff control client exposure.
If you agree with government promoting professionalism amongst salons and protecting the public than we ask that you take the time to read the understated and sign this petition. This petition will be delivered to the Premier of Ontario during the fall session of the Legislature.
Premier McGuinty:
As a customer of a certified professional tanning salon I respectfully ask that the government of Ontario introduce regulations which would require parental consent for those under 18: Mandate JCTA/Smart Tan training for salon operators and encourage professionalism in all aspects of salon operation.
