Leave Our Ferries Alone

Sir,
I was not asked by you or the Liberal Party before the last provincial election if I wanted B.C. Ferries 'Privatized,' dismantled and sold off piece by piece. I was not consulted before one of this Province's most prized assets was put up for grabs by the enactment earlier this year of Bill C.18, 'The Coastal Ferries Act.'

This ferry fleet has long been regarded as one of the best in the world. One could produce a photograph of one of the 'Dogwood Fleet' vessels almost anywhere abroad and it would immediately be recognized as being from British Columbia. The officers and crews that man these vessels and the shoreside and office staff who support them are amongst the most highly-qualified and safety-conscious employees to be found anywhere in any organization. They are professionals and should be respected as such.

I hereby ask you to stop further privatization of B.C. Ferries before you destroy what is left of one of the jewels in British Columbia's Crown. Accept that the Ferries are part of the highways infrastructure of this great province and should be maintained as such.

Allow Premier W.A.C. Bennett's dream to live on in his memory.

Please give us back the Dogwood Fleet!
