Let Kevin T. Singer play "Dungeons and Dragons".
A man serving a lifetime sentence in prison has been denied the chance to play "Dungeons and Dragons" whit his convict mates due to an unreasonable, narrow minded, bigoted decision of prison authorities at Waupun's correctional facility, who fear that the popular Role-Playing Game could pose "a security concern".
Now, everyone who has even briefly dabbled into RPGs can discount these irrational fears, and testify instead about the power of cooperative gaming to develop relational and social skills which could greatly help the rehabilitaion of socially-impaired individuals such as convicted criminals.
The united states fancy themselves a "great democracy", yet over and over they prove to consider their prison system not as a correctional tool where to recuperate anti-social individuals, but as a kind of torture facility where to torment and degrade those unfortunate enough to enter it.
This man has been sentenced to life, and he's been denied the chance to enjoy an activity which, in the dull and drab prison environment would have surely brought some solace to his mind and his heart (even if one discounts its educative value).
We call to President Barack Obama to make use of what powers the u.s. constitution grants him to push for a review of the mean, cruel and unjust ruling which robbed inmate Kevin T. Singer of that little intellectual enjoyement which he tried to include in his convicted life.
