A series of bomb blasts on suburban trains rocked Mumbai on July 11, 2006. Over 200 people have died in the blasts till date and several are still struggling for life. While this is on, there are some politicians and media persons who are provoking the people and there is a fear of people turning violent and indulging in riots. This is appeal to all politicians and media persons to ensure that people are asked to remain calm and not fall into the hands of the terrorists, by indulging in violence.
We condemn the bomb blasts and its perpetrators, but we also condemn irresponsible politicians and media persons, who are making statements that could lead to violence, especially in Mumbai.
We, the undersigned, appeal to the members of parliament and their party leaders to ensure that no politician provokes people to violence. We appeal to them to do everything in their power to maintain peace in the country. Those guilty of the act should be punished, but no community should be targeted. We also appeal to all Indians to maintain peace.
