Limit New York State Gasoline Taxes

New York's total gasoline tax, estimated on a per gallon basis, is near 34-cents per gallon and represents one of the highest state tolls on gasoline in the nation.
Gasoline Revenue figures for 2005 show that the escalating price of gasoline resulted in a huge windfall to the state treasury - the State actually collected a full year's worth of projected Gasoline Tax revenue in the first 9 months of 2005!
With the historically high price of gasoline, 2006 revenue will be even more extensive and will be paid disproportiantely by upstate residents and small businesses that rely on private transportation to commute to work and run their businesses.
