On Dec. 30, 1970, 38 men lost their lives in a Mining Explosion in Hyden, Kentucky, located in Leslie Co.
These men left behind wives, children, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and other loved ones.
The site where these men perished contains nothing, not even a cross to mark the location of this disaster.
I believe there should be a place to visit and a monument that distinguishes where these men once worked and ultimately died.
I am the daughter of one of these miners and feel that my father along with the other miners should be recognized.
If you also believe that these men, their families, and their community deserve a place to visit and contemplate what happened on that site, then please sign.
This petition will be forwarded onto officials in Leslie, Co. in the hope that they will see the importance of recognition for these men.
