Petition to the Irish Government to become a Member State of CERN

Ireland is currently not a member of the CERN project. It would cost €11.6 million euro per year to be a full member of the project. For €1 million per year we could at least achieve limited membership in the project as a stepping stone to full membership. Participation in this research project would not only help advance science in this country but would also be hugely beneficial to Irish scientists and companies in future years.
Since the coalition government took over, they have spent approximately €7 million euro on consultancy services to governmental departments. That same amount of money would go a long way towards paying our membership and would in the long term produce jobs for scientists and Irish companies assisting in new technologies. We need a government with some vision, which has sadly been lacking for too long.
The government can find €7 million euro for consultancy services I believe they can find the money for this membership, or perhaps spend their money more wisely. Membership will assist our future scientists, our future companies, our future economy and future generations. One day our children might represent Ireland as scientists within CERN. If you believe that Ireland should be a member of this project, please use people power and sign and share this petition now!
