The Interim Growth Ordinance by its very nature assumes there is a need to curb growth. This ordinance has been proposed prior to any in-depth study of the matter and effectively closes the door on all subdivision for one year as the State of New Hampshire has already shut down the creation of any new lots on town water and or sewer. No studies have been presented that discuss the long term effects slowed growth would have on the business and service sector of our community. We feel that the Planning Board is putting the cart before the horse and should wait until the master plan update and growth studies have been completed to make recommendations on limiting growth. We recognize that the ability to use the land is an integral component in the economic engine of this community and that the planning board should be very careful and take the time necessary to consider the ramifications of any additional major restrictions they may wish to impose on this vital resource.
