We, the undersigned, Want the political advertisements to be under the same "Truth in Advertising" law as businesses. This is a federal law that states
Advertising must be truthful and non-deceptive;
Advertisers must have evidence to back up their claims; and
Advertisements cannot be unfair.
Many people rely on political advertisements to make their decisions about the candidates. Most of them are deceptive and relate only half-truths about their opponents. We propose a fine for the first offense and removal from the political race for any violation after the first offense. The people deserve the truth in order to make an educated decision.
