protect off leash dog access in Redwood Park
Sign Now
We the undersigned ask that the East Bay Regional Park District to institute the following changes both in Ordinance 38 and signage.
1. Riders stop and wait quietly to give walkers reasonable time to call and secure their dogs.
2. Horses ridden on the trails are trained to accept the presence of dogs, bikes, baby strollers or any other user of the parks.
3. The East Bay Regional Park District support and permit signage to clarify correct procedure between users on the trail. Many users of the parks do not understand the right of way rules. People walking dogs in Redwood Park may not encounter a horse and rider for years. Without signage and education they would not know that their dog could react to a horse.
4. The East Bay Regional Park District support and permit signage about the Pup and Pony Meet and Greet, as a resource for safely using the trails.
5. The East Bay Regional Park District create new trails, as proposed by Judy Banks in 2002, to provide a dog free, alternative route from the stables along Redwood Road and the mid-section of the West Ridge trail. Current trails are already too crowded, restricting their use would only create more problems elsewhere.
6. A protective barrier be placed between the Serpentine Prairie and the Dunn Trail.
