Protest the AKCs Deal With Petland Stores

We, the undersigned, encourage the American Kennel Club (AKC) to rescind its proposed business relationship with Petland stores. We are alarmed because the sale of dogs at chain stores encourages the volume breeding of dogs. This type of breeding does not encourage the betterment of any breed.
Additionallly, when a dog is sold from a retail store there is minimal if any screening of potential homes.
As the AKC explains in its fact sheet, AKC dog registrations have decreased recently. In an effort increase AKC registrations and its income, we believe that the AKC's proposal will sacrifce the standards, health and temperament of purebred dogs.

As the current owner of (4) rescued Golden Retriever the idea of such an organization as the AKC making a deal with the devil, so to speak, is inexcusable. I am as well as others I know, very disappointed. I would seriously reconsidered this "deal" before

puppy mills are to be disbanded, not encouraged. I have had personal experience and it is very painful for both the dog and the owner

AKC is in violation of it's core values. It is Greed and Deception if they go forward with this fellowship with Petland.
