Race fans wanting to see a REAL race

A few weeks ago, when John Darby was speaking about the current qualifying procedures he made the following statement:

"I could see some showbiz values in that - it would give television an opportunity to play out the guys going head-on on speed with separating the groups,"(When the suggestion was made to put all of the go or go homers into a different qualifying group, thus leveling the field within that particular group) Darby said. "But one thing I can't get over in my own mind is one of our responsibilities is to keep everything we do fair for the entire garage. You have 50 competitors that need to qualify.

"What is the fairest way to put all 50 competitors on an even playing field? Right now the best we can find is a random draw."

Well Mr. Darby, how about this suggestion to make the sport FAIR TO ALL INVOLVED---

Do your random draw as you have been doing, BUT only lock in last year's Top 12 contenders. The other 31 spots are filled by speed, not owner points. THIS would be considered much fairer than the current 35 cars locked in. EVERY single race this season, smaller teams or new teams have actually been FASTER than the "top 35", but have been sent home because of an outdated rule. Give everyone a chance to live their dreams, and give the FANS who pay to see their favorite drivers race on Sunday the chance to see REAL RACING as it was intended to be. Racing based on speed, not points.
The "Past Champion" provisional--- Driver needs to be a FULL-TIME driver, not part-time, or brought in just to get a certain owner's car into the race. If a driver wants the priviledge of running a race, he needs to EARN it, not have it handed to him on a plate.
