We, the parents at High Park Alternative School, are very concerned about the existing high risk to our childrens safety at school. With only a .5 administrative assistant position currently in place, our teachers and children do not have anyone to access for support quickly and easily from 11:30 am onwards. While the Principal and Vice Principal try to make themselves available as needed, this is not adequate. When our children become ill, there is no one available immediately to contact parents, there is no one to administer the safe arrivals program in the afternoon, and no one in the HPAS office to keep an eye out for possible intruders to the school while students and teachers are in class during the afternoon. Incidents have already occurred. Our Students safety should not be at risk. Our Students deserve equitable access to administrative supports to ensure their safety.
Please find a way to add another .5 to our current administrative assistant allotment and help reduce the safety risks to our children. We feel this warrants immediate action safety should be a top priority to the Toronto District School Board.

Overseeing the safety of the children at HPAS does not end at 11:30 am. Do we have to wait for a serious occurence to happen? HPAS' need for a full-time Assistant is valid - please do re-consider.

Also - we are close to 3 high schools and adjacent to 2 areas where teens who are "known to police" gather.
