Save Floridaвs Fine arts program!

Governor Jeb Bush is trying to pass a bill that will remove the mandatory arts credit from schools, and that will remove Drama, visual arts, dance, and music courses from many schools.

As a young aspiring actor, the Fine arts program has greatly helped my academic career, and has opened many new opportunities for me, and many others. In fact, it has been proven that children with a background in the arts are more motivated to do well in school, than those with just academic activity.

Also, many people cannot afford to enroll their children in an arts program, so many budding artists may never reach there true potential.

Do you want your grandchildren to grow up in a world without art? A world where only those with money can pursue artistic dreams? Where if you go up to someone one and talk about Rent, Wicked, The House of Blue Leaves, or even Romeo and Juliet, and have them remembered only as a book, or a movie, or never even heard of at all? Floridaвs obsession with FCAT is getting in the way of really teaching the arts.

So do your part to ensure the future of Floridaвs fine arts festival. Sign our petition.
