We are petitioning you today to reconsider your proposed budgets cuts specifically aimed at Heckscher State Park in the Town of Islip, NY. As concerned tax payers and constituents, we oppose any cuts to the NYS Parks Department Budget that would close or reduce the availability of park amenities that have been funded throughout the years with our tax dollars! Heckscher State Park provides affordable family fun such as hiking, running, cycling, boating, windsurfing and fishing to name some of the countless activities our residents enjoy. In an economy where families are looking to save money wherever they can the ability to enjoy New Yorks natural beauty is invaluable. This plan would destroy that ability and devastate our environment, tourism, and economy.
