SEFTON COUNCIL ARE IRRESPONSIBLE REGARDING MANAGEMENT OF SNOW/ICE IN SEFTON AREA

Please add your name, comments and pictures and forward to all other Sefton residents to complete, if you feel that Sefton Council have acted irresponsibly during the acute snow and ice conditions in the Sefton area. The area had a lot of snowfall on the 17th December but no extra snow since, little attempt has been made to clear the roads, and over a week on there are main roads two inches thick of ice. Sefton council websites state their policies regarding gritting the road, and the routes they say are their priority during these conditions, but even these routes haven't been managed properly, and Northway hadnt been touched till 5 days after the snowfall. If you go to other council areas, such as Liverpool and West Lancs many of these roads are clear, and they also had quite a lot of snow, but these councils actually bothered to snow plough the roads instantly after the snow and grit the roads. Sefton Council have had a slow limited reaction. I feel that they have acted extremely irresponsible, have needlessly slowed down our lives in the last week, limited our travel to and from work, affected the local economy, caused road traffic accidents, contributed to a high increase of fractures particularly in old people, and will then spend our taxes next year repairing the damage to the roads caused by the snow and ice. During this snowy period what were the council workers who usually work on the roads and gardens doing? why were Sefton Council not working around the clock clearing roads? I saw very few gritters out. Council fat cats are inefficient, get big bonuses and we pay a high level of tax in Maghull, we need to stand up to them. If we didn't fulfil our job in private industry we would not be paid or sacked, is this going to happen to them, are they going to give us a rebate on our taxes ? Yes we are experiencing unusual temperatures but I think the council reaction and management of the roads is totally unacceptable, please sign if you do, and this will be sent to the Chief Executive of Sefton Council.
