Deaths of elephants and other animals by high-speed trains are becoming frequent incident in India particularly in northern West Bengal. The Hasimara to Koochbehar via Alipur Duar rail track is now a death trap for the animals of Buxa Forest and Buxa Tiger Reserve.
Indian Rail and West Bengal Forest Departments are busy to accuse each other for these incidents. But the problem can be solved by employing strict speed regulation, close circuit network and electric fencing.
