Regulation of Vehicle Traffic on The South End
The NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources has allowed the State Park at Fort Fisher to regulate access to the south end beach at Fort Fisher. The regulations set a fee of $ 10.00 per day or $40.00 per year for a permit to drive a 4-wheel drive vehicle on the south end of the park. Time regulations have also been activated.The hours of access vary during the year, below is the current official hours.
Park hours
December-February: 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
March: 8 a.m.-7 p.m.
April-May: 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
June-August: 6 a.m.-9 p.m.
September 1-14: 6 a.m.-8 p.m.
September 15-November: 24-Hour Access
The signing of this petition states that the signer does not agree with these regulations and would like for the NCDENR to reconsider access to the south end of the park for recreation and sport fishing, and re-open the south end park gates 24 hours a day 7 days a week year round.
