In the fall of 2009, the Stanford Farm Educator, Sarah Wiederkehr, and the Dean of Earth Sciences, Pam Matson, proposed the establishment of a two-acre Student Education Farm to the Stanford administration.
As members of the Stanford community, we support the creation of this easily-accessible, student education farm by 2011, as part of a larger movement toward providing, producing, and educating students about environmentally- and equitably-grown food at Stanford. We believe the farm will promote well-rounded education and well-being, help Stanford uphold its commitment to sustainability, and serve as a visible manifestation of that commitment.
