On May 17th 2011 the Town of Greece held a public hearing regarding the request of a "Special Use Permit" that would allow Bryant & Stratton College to build a new school at 846 Long Pond Road. The proposed college, possibly a restaurant and day care center would be located in the open field next to CVS Pharmacy, Rockcastle Florist and Northwest Savings Bank.
Currently Bryant & Stratton is located in Canal Ponds Park. That location would be vacated and would now exist at 846 Long Pond Road causing increased traffic and possibly more RTS busses. Currently at the college in Canal Ponds Park approximately 25\% of the students are Greece residents, while the majority are from the City of Rochester and Gates.
IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT TO FACE WHILE TAKING YOUR CHILDREN TO SCHOOL EVERYDAY? DO YOU WANT MORE TRAFFIC ON LONG POND ROAD WHEN GOING TO AND FROM WORK EVERYDAY?
This will alter the essential character of the neighborhood. NOT ALTERING the neighborhood IS A requirement for a Special Use Permit!
The Town of Greece only notified residents within 500 feet of the proposed building. This amounted to less than 100 homes being notified. From that mailing, approximately 100 concerned residents attended the meeting to show they are AGAINST this proposal and more commercialization of our town and neighborhood.
Bryant & Stratton states they need more space and want to double enrollment from 400 800 students. There are currently MANY vacant buildings in Canal Ponds Park, why not expand in this already commercial area? Mercy Elementary School on Denise Road has been vacant for some time now, why not move there, it is already zoned and approved for a school?
NOW IS THE TIME TO COME TOGETHER and show the Town of Greece this IS NOT what we want by signing this petition. Expand at Canal Ponds, we don't need a college in the heart of greece, next to a couple of churchs and a high school. Leave the college in the more commercialized area toward the south of Greece.

I feel they should use a building that is already built instead of building more buildings. Use one of the buildings already in that same park. Or use a school that is already vacant.
