As Manchester United fans from across the world it is our pleasure to support the greatest sporting institution the world has ever seen. Our club is unrivalled when it comes to merchandising, and is one of the most recognisable brands in the world. We are one of the most successful clubs in world football with a fan base that numbers approximately 330,000,000 people and which is followed throughout every country in the world. As fans of Manchester United it has come to our attention that an unfortunate amount of flak is bestowed upon the club we love, it's players, and it's officials. Now is the time to act to ensure that Manchester United players and staff are no longer targeted simply for being synomynous with the world's greatest football club. Recently Sir Alex Ferguson rather eloquently gave his verdict on many poor decisions that were decided by the referee Martin Atkinson in the Premier League against Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge. Sir Alex was simply stating that due to previous history involving this referee and these great teams, then perhaps Mr Atkinson should not have refereed the game. Because of this statement, Sir Alex Ferguson now faces an FA disciplinary hearing and faces a possible 4 match ban. If an aggrieved manager cannot give his opinion when a match official makes incorrect decisions then the Beautiful Game, as we know it, is dead. Manchester United fans should not let this situation take place anymore after the club has received harsh punishments for a number of years, when other clubs, their players and their officials have had lesser punishments for similar incidents. We, as Manchester United fans, and also fans of other clubs should form together to ensure that the autocratic FA and their draconian methods of discipline should be reviewed immediately in order to protect the game that we love.
