We, the undersigned faculty members, ask you as Trustees of the University to urge the Administration to work with the UFE to reach a fair, equitable, and prompt agreement for salary increases and balanced workload for EWU faculty.
Faculty salaries have not kept pace with the rate of salary increases for senior administration on our campus, nor with the salaries of faculty at our peer institutions nationally. Even some Washington community college faculty have higher salaries than we do. While our salaries and our number remain stagnant, our classrooms are increasingly overcrowded and students continue to sign up for waitlists each quarter.
As faculty members, we are committed to maintaining the high quality of instruction that Washington citizens have a right to expect from EWU. We deserve reasonable wages for doing so, and we urge you to do your part to negotiate a fair contract with the UFE, as EWU facultys representatives.
