Urge Salford Council to rethink the Chapel Street regeneration plans

This morning Salford Council began the next phase of the regeneration of the Chapel Street/A6 area - a main thoroughfare int Manchester City Centre.
For the next 6 months at least (but probably longer) this will result in traffic chaos at peak times as 3 lanes of traffic coming into and out of Manchester through the area will be forced into a single lane. Experience this morning (21st March) suggests that this measure will add a minimum of 60 mins to peoples journeys and result in traffic jams up to 5 miles long.
Whilst we don't object to the regeneration plans per se, the manner in which traffic is to be managed seems ludicrous and will simply force people to stay away from Manchester rather than encourage them to come here. We the undersigned urge you to rethink these plans!
