VERMONT STATE COLLEGE STUDENTS SEEKING AN ALTERNATIVE DIALOGUE

Preamble:
Since the ruin of our nations financial systems, the call for government stewardship has fallen flat. Weak leadership in the face of unprecedented corruption has effectively shackled the interests of American citizens to the arrogance of corporate supremacy. In the resulting years of malaise, we the students of Americas higher-educational institutions have been dealt a hand of uncertainty. Tuition prices have risen. Housing costs have shot up. Textbooks are wrung through trivial revisions, ensnaring the student.
In this environment, government funding has been slashed.
With no sign of institutional progress to mend our confidence, we seek an alternative forum to restore civil discourse to our national debate. No forum so represents this vital need as that which is now centered in Zuccotti Park, New York City. There, at the heart of the Occupy Wall Street Movement, the purposeful exchange of ideas has given birth to a vibrant international dialogue.
We the undersigned, call upon Senator Bernard Sanders to join with Vermont State College students in a day of dialogue to be conducted in Zuccotti Park, New York City, for the purpose of improving our civic unity.
