Waiting for the government, councils, RSPCA or owner to step up is proving a waste of time, despite various "behind closed doors" debates it’s about time those involved in real life do something.
after sending plans for a "green yard" or "horse pound" into BCBC and not receiving a great deal other than "Mr./Mrs. is rushing around in meetings" or "Mr./Mrs. will call you back" and even "thanks for that information, it was very helpful, speak to you again no doubt" we need to voice our desperation.
said green yard/horse pound will be a 24 hour service, known by the police and council and called to deal with stray/dumped horses, not leaving the police to act as cowboys and more to the point, no queries over the law, it’s simple, dumped/straying horse is picked up, if owner comes forward and provides proof of ownership they pay relevant costs and claim animal back. If in most cases horses are dumped/straying in schools, roads, public areas they are seized and if not claimed either sold on/destroyed.
If any more information is wanted please look into BHS website and search "green yard" or Google search. This programme is working in other areas, freeing up policing time and potential accidents/fatalities.
So let's prove we need something done, not tomorrow, not next week, and defiantly not next year but today. we were told MPs/councils/government were having meeting last year, yet still, horses are being dumped everywhere.
