Little Known Fact
What Does Indiana have in common with New York ?
Forty eight states in this United Nation , all follow the same standard guidelines when it comes to disability . Two states Do Not . Indiana and New York . In 1972 more than the majority of us updated our commonly outdated health policies when it came to qualifying someone as disabled. They did so to keep up with the changing world around us . These two states chose not to progress with the times or nation . Thirty five years have passed the guidelines from 1972 are still the standards followed in Indiana and New York . Federal law does not require states to follow their standards . This means if you or someone you know is or becomes disabled by the federal government and live in one of these two states . You will not automatically qualify for state assistance under your disability . You can receive a check from the federal government saying you are disabled . You can even have a handicap plate on your car or have a sign in front of your home . But you may not be eligible to receive Disability Medicaid under that states outdated more strict policy .
35 Years . . . Come on
If you are disabled you are entitled to medical assistance .
It shouldnt matter which of our great states you live in .
