It is my hope to get September 11th designated as a national holiday. This would mean closed businesses and schools, vigils and prayers, the raising of flags at half-staff, ceremonies, and the resurrection of memorials where people can pay respects to those who died as a direct result of 9/11, and much more. Our very freedom and liberty, as American citizens, has been threatened as a result of the massive attack on US soil. 2,948 people from 84 countries died on September 11, 2001, affecting the lives of thousands and possibly millions of family members and friends. The attacks have also had a lingering effect on the current health of hundreds (possibly thousands) of firefighters, and other personnel who worked at Ground Zero and the Pentagon in an attempt to save lives. Designating 9/11 as a national holiday will hopefully have a positive effect on America as a whole, bringing us all closer together.
