A Fight for Independence

PM Trudeau attempted to remove this country one tiny step from the UK by eliminating the royal from many names. Now, PM Harper thought it appropriate to turn the clock back to the middle ages and we are all supposed to be very happy to enjoy the Royal Canadian Time again. It is almost treasonous to hear those people here in Canada who are of British descend to sing with joy and thank Harper on their knees for having returned honor to those who fought for Britain in wars past. Clearly, if as a British citizen you fought for your country which is or was Britain, that is fine. On the other hand, if you went to war as a Canadian you fought for Canada. The people of Canada like those in the United States have come and are coming from all over the world and ever more so today from nations which are not British or British related. I ask you all, wherever you come and came from, not to hark back to the land of your forefathers but to stand tall for this country, this land, this Canada, as North Americans, as citizens of the free and sovereign Republic of Canada, beholden to none.
