San Francisco has had enough of the escalating violence which is plaguing our neighborhoods. Our communities are in desperate need of measures which will ensure the safety of our families on our streets. The Western Addition and its surrounding communities have seen an unmitigated array of violent shootings and killings in the past 6 months and we are now demanding action. Criminals seem to now think that they can perpetrate horrendous crimes with impunity.
The time to act is now and the Citizens of San Francisco expect you to do so. We believe the following actions will help in stopping this tide of violence in our neighborhoods and city.
1. Equip our police so they can rapidly respond to our calls and patrol our streets (especially late at night). Hold the police accountable for making arrests.
2. Demand that our District Attorney prosecute criminals.
3. Increase public housing (Housing Authority) security
and accountability.
4. Create a system to stop chronic truancy.
5. Visibly increase the amount of intervention workers on our streets so that we can prevent crime by directing kids to more constructive behaviors.
Mr. Newsom, in electing you we entrusted you and your administration with the safety of our city. Please, show us that we have not misplaced our trust.
