A Worker's Right to Choose

With this, we urge the Ohio House of Representatives to reinsert into the Collective Bargaining bill, the Open Shop language that was removed when SB 5 was passed out of the Ohio Senate. In addition, if determining he/she does want to join a union, an employee should have the right to choose whether or not the related union dues can be automatically deducted from his/her check.
We also request, in the spirit of freedom & liberty, and to assure a work place reflective of the public employees desires, it be included in the House version of SB 5 that a separate and stand alone vote for recertification of union representation be taken every two (2) years.
Lastly, we are requesting the House version of SB 5 mandate that, at the time of vote for recertification of union representation and any new hires, all public union employees be advised and given a copy of the U.S. Supreme Court case - Commun. Workers of Amer. v. Beck, 487 U.S. 735 (1988).
We are asking the citizens of Ohio to join us, by signing this petition, in urging the Ohio House to include these important provisions in the collective bargaining reform bill, and return to workers the right and the freedom to choose whether they want to be part of a union.
