Action Against High Mobile Call Rates in Bangla Desh

Dear Mobile User,
As consumers of Bangla Desh, we the common people are paying a huge amount of bills every month to the privately owned mobile companies. Yes, it is we the consumers who are the power house of this sector. But what we see? Grameen Phone, CityCell, Aktel and Sheba Telecom these companies are charging a high call charge rate since they came to business.

None of these companies are enlisted in our public share market. Thus, we consumers can not become part of their high profit margin either. It is absolutely clear that together they are trying to run a monopoly and exploit the consumers. Today, we write to our fellow citizen of Bangla Desh to take a bold step against this.

We few students of school and universities have taken this action plan to launch a nation wide protest against this monopoly run by our Cell companies. We have a legit demand towards our mobile companies that they should reduce their call charge in the interest of the consumers of Bangla Desh. The fixed wage earners of our country can not take full advantage of this cell technology only because of this high rate. It is to us a social abuse.

We ask our government and civil society to take appropiate measures to ensure that this monopoly can be stopped for good, as soon as possible.

Today we the consumers must unite to claim back our consumer rights. Thus, We ask every mobile user, regardless which section of the society you come from to stand up and unite with us.

This is our demand :
All mobile charges for zonal calls must be reduced to "2 Taka per minute"
All SMS charges sent within the Bangla Desh must be reduced to "0.50 Tk"

This is a legit demand that we draft today for the sake of consumer rights. We can not let our mobile companies to abuse us by keeping our mouth shut about the situation.
