We have heard that Aboriginal Chief, Teresa Spencer, has begun a hunger strike to get Prime Minister Harper to speak to her concerning Native issues. We fear for her life and that her suffering will be in vain.
Inasmuch as the Prime Minister has up to now chosen to ignore Chief Spencer, we the undersigned citizens of Canada, join our voices to that of Chief Spencer. Her voice is no longer alone, we are part of a growing community of Canadian citizens who are concerned about how the Canadian Government is treating our Native Peoples. We ask that you, as our Prime Minister, speak in the respectful reality that you are nations in dialogue. This is OUR COMBINED Voice calling upon Prime Minister Harper to meet with Chief Spencer to begin a dialogue with her aand build an improved relationship between the Government of Canada and the Canadian Indigenous Peoples.
