I surrendered my son when I was very young because I loved him enough. I have tried to locate him but to no avail. I assume he does not want to be found. I know several people who are adopted and I know that one of the issues that haunt my son is that when he goes to a new doctor and has to fill out a form that requires he enter family medical history, he can't because he was adopted.
Many adoptees are now searching for their birth families. Many birthmothers demand anonymity. There is however more birthmothers who want the records opened upon request.
We the petitioners request the adoption records nationwide, be available to adoptees. That if a birthmother chooses anonymity; the records should reflect this although these birthmothers should be encouraged to at least make family medical history available in the files.
Should your child or the children they bear become physically or mentally ill, their lives may be saved because of knowledge of a genetic/inherent disposition to certain illnesses.
