Allow Dogs in California State Parks

We support Senate Bill #712, your bill to study the feasibility of creating off leash dog space in selected state parks.
We understand that the Sate Department of Parks and Recreation is acquiring new parklands in urban areas and we support your effort to address the needs of dog owners as these parks are being developed.
We are committed to protecting the California environment and to making our parks friendly and accessible for all types of recreation. As dog owners, we believe that our recreation deserves the same degree of consideration as other sports including horseback riding, fishing and team sports that take place in state parks.
As members and supporters of The California Dog Owners Group (CalDog.org) we are developing a code of conduct for dog owners and we can help you demonstrate that responsible dog owners will become enthusiastic users and supporters of the California State Park System.
As California citizens who treasure our opportunities for outdoor recreation, we believe that the hundreds of thousands of acres of state parklands can support a variety of uses, including those suitable for recreation and those suitable for preservation.
Please count us your strongest supporters on SB 712 .
