Allow Men Who Have Sex with Men To Give Blood

Out in UL is the LGBT society of the University of Limerick. We are committed to making the LGBT student of UL feel more safe and secure in college life, and to inform them of LGBT issues. The policy of the Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) that prohibits men who have sex with men (MSM) from giving blood is one such issue which is discriminatory, offensive and a barrier to LGBT students and the LGBT community of Ireland. This petition is to show the IBTS that Out in UL and the LGBT community of Ireland will not stand for such blatant homophobia. We hope that this petition shows the IBTS that their policy is unfair and an embarrassment to their establishment. We'd also like to encourage all those who can give blood to do so. We don't want to take that right away from you like it has been taken from us.
