The Use of Certain Lights.


We as Process Servers (Appointed or Certified) are authorized to serve Civil Process and we are governed by certain Laws, that we follow how to do our job. Each State, Circuit, County has their own Administrative Orders to what we can and cant do. We are individuals that put ourselves on the line to a job that keeps our Sheriffs Deputies on the road to keeping the Peace. Most of the time we are looked at and asked whom we are by everyone even Law Enforcement Officials. We arent given the full authority in which we deserve, we go through the same background and we are tested on what Laws we must follow. In some Counties/Circuits you can display a badge which designates that youre a certified process server and others you are told you cant have a badge to identify what you are, you simply have an ID.

I was watching a News Story the other day on Police impersonators knocking on doors and burglarizing houses, attacking homeowners and so on. That news channel stated, if you dont know who is at your door, and youre not expecting anyone, dont open it. Well, that causes us a problem. People usually know when theyre delinquent on bills, having a troubled marriage so they know to expect someone soon or later. Though without the right to do things that we should do, we have to go there time after time, by that time they know and they are evading us.

My thing is, Make everything Uniform throughout each State, or in my case Florida. If one county can have Badges we all should, if some can carry protection of any kind, we all should.

For Safety on the streets, Construction Crews, Land Surveyors, Private Public Service Corporations, DOT, Waste Removal Companies, School Buses, Fuel Tankers, Security Personnel, have the right to use Amber or White Rotation or Flashing lights.
Law Enforcement Officials got a law passed that tells drivers if they see hazardous Lights, Emergency lights, or Public Safety Lights, they must slow down to 25mph or change lanes. Why is it that we as Process Servers are excluded in all of that? We are contractors on behalf of the courts, Court Officers whom are sworn in annually. Why are we deprived of safety? We need to be recognized to who we are. I am not stating that we us Rotators/Flashing Lights at every stop, just in particular circumstances. I know we should be discrete and half the time you dont want people to know what youre doing. Although you still want to be safe while performing your job.



If you believe we have a right to our Safety, Please sign this Petition, so we can push the issue of our Safety as well. Please sign this Petition so our fellow Servers, if they want to use a rotator/Flasher (Amber/White only) they can, without getting controversy from the division head or Civil Supervisor. There are many times you cant Legally park to serve a Document this will provide you safety, and notify drivers that our vehicle is there. (Hazard Lights arent just enough)
