The law governing the revocation of driver's license due to default of child-support payments needs to be amended. In cases where the individual's only real means to seek and maintain employment is by motor vehicle, there is no possible way the individual can meet the obligation to pay the support. There is no provision for an individual to even possess a limited permit. The law needs to be balanced and allow a person the means to livelihood in this modern society in order to meet his or her obligation. A DUI/DWI conviction permits the courts to issue a temporary permit to be able to work, the courts being aware of the need to seek and maintain employment. The same reasoning should apply with regard to the child-support issue.
