American Voices On Immigration Policies

1. We want you to make sure our borders are secure. Did we learn nothing on September 11, 2001? If well meaning neighbors from our south or north can access this country in such vast numbers, how many terrorists have crossed our borders? Your utmost concern should be the security of our country and the safety of its citizens.
2. We want immigration reform but only after there has been time spent studying the effects Americas swelling population will have on this countrys natural resources, schools, social services, jobs, etc. Responsible leaders would make sure they have all the facts before making any major, life altering decisions. To rush a bill through to appease some special interest groups is asinine. If anything, the flow of new people allowed into this country should be slowed down until some of these effects are known. Again, the existing citizens of the USA are supposed to be of your utmost concern.
3. We do not want the illegal immigrants that are here now to be granted any type of amnesty. We citizens are not rewarded for breaking the law and evading authorities. Why dont you prove to us that you can enforce the existing laws of this nation effectively before you begin writing new laws that can have such overwhelming effects on Americas population?
If the numbers of protesters impress you and you see passing some type of illegal immigrant amnesty bill as a way of gaining more votes, then think about this. We who sign this petition already have the right to vote. Even though we have not yet taken to the streets in mass protests, we are united in our love of our country and the want to protect and preserve our country for our children. We will vote for those who observe the same values and beliefs in the upcoming elections.
