Ylioppilaslehti is a newspaper of all the students at the University of Helsinki. We all subscribe to it as part of our Student Union membership fee and we all should get something out of it. However, the newspaper forgets a very important part of the university students: the foreign students who at the moment comprise almost 10\% of all the students. For a long time it has refused to publish anything in English, though English is the third official language of the university and the student community.
An English language page will:
- make the foreign students feel more welcome in the student community of the University of Helsinki
- provide information to the foreign students about what is going on at the University of Helsinki and in the Finnish society
- provide a channel for interaction between the foreign students and the Finnish students which will be strengthened by the awareness of what is going on in respective communities
Foreign students and researchers are an essential part of the University of Helsinki, please help us make all the students a part of the campus life as well.
