Anime is an abbreviation of the Japanese word アニメーション (animēshon), which is based on the English word "animation". Outside Japan, the term most popularly refers to the medium of animation originating in Japan, with distinctive character and background aesthetics that visually set it apart from other forms of animation.
Anime Conventions can be found all over the world, but in the United States an unusually high amount of them can be found in Florida. These are mostly centered on the central Florida area, but a few new ones have begun appearing in the southern region of the state.
This fact is not particularly convenient to the people living in the northern part of the state, who have to drive hundreds of miles to attend the one nearest to them. This is also inconvenient to those living in the border-states (Georgia, Alabama) that may want to attend.
The Floridian city of Jacksonville is known for hosting SUPER BOWL XXXIX and though this and other events has proven that it can handle large-scale gatherings. Unfortunately, this city does not have it's own anime convention and with all that it has to offer, there is no reason for this to be.
This petition is to help form an anime convention in Jacksonville, which is more than ready for one of it's own.

I'm a HUGE fan of anime and have never been to a convention because they are too far away. Jacksonville is a great place for anime conventions, people would flock to it.
