Bette and Tina - Together Forever

We, your viewers, do respectfully request that the characters of Bette Porter and Tina Kennard, be reunited as the loving, long term relationship couple that you so skillfully had us all fall in love with. This document represents the passion and love for this couple, as well as The L Word.

First, it needs to be said that we appreciate The L Word. You have shown the world a life that has only before been whispered about. You have given that world a glimpse into the lives of a group of lesbians who love, live, work, and play together. You have touched on subject matter no one else has dared to. Homosexuals and heterosexuals alike have been glued to their TVs to see what happens in our little gay world. You have directly affected a great many of us on personal levels. Never have we seen so much passion revolve around a show.

That being said, you must know how much a loving, passionate, committed couple like Bette and Tina have come to mean to all of us. We fell in love from the pilot episode and still, at this point in time, want them to return as a couple, no matter what has been put in their paths. Those of us who are in long term relationships feel shortchanged and hurt. What you choose to show when moving forward with this couple was cheating, lying, lack of communication and backstabbing. We feel a lack of respect for our relationships that have endured a great amount of drama. Those of us who are not in that relationship yet, feel disillusioned. We found something to look forward to, a goal to work with in building our relationships and now are horrified at what we see. Then there are those of us who are not lesbians at all, but we fell in love with the idea that two people could emit so much chemistry and show so much love. We too feel deceived. Was this just TV? Yes it is. But, to your credit, we connected with it. You are telling our stories. We are telling you, were unhappy. We saw hope for an era where people can love unconditionally across the lines of sex, race, religion, and stereotypes because of what this show started to tell the world. You have veered off the course we believed you were taking us on.


You and your writers did a fantastic job with this couple. You have so many of your viewers wrapped around every episode waiting to see what was coming next. However, nearer to the end of season 3, we are just waiting for it to be over and praying that next season will see our couple return to love, life and yes, lust together. You put this love in our hearts, and we feel as though you have ripped it from us. We are sadly disappointed. We are angry. We are sad. We are hoping you will see fit to return to us that which you gave and then took away: our favorite couple Bette & Tina.
