There have been very sudden plans that will likely mean the closure of the Betty Rymer Gallery in Columbus and its relocation to the Sullivan Galleries. This will be completed before the beginning of the Fall 2010 semester. The Rymer Gallery space will be turned into a high-end equipment and 3-D imaging shop. Other relocation alternatives have not been proposed from the administration to faculty/staff. In addition, a plan for how the school will manage events such as ArtBash as well as compensation for the lack of gallery space has not been outlined. The SAIC community deserves a plan that follows the administrations stated intention to involve the larger SAIC community during this important period of restructuring.
