"East 1999 Eternal" is consistently rated as one of the best rap albums of the 1990s and fans of the group still compare Bone's every move to this album.
So, as fans of Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, we think it would be a great idea for Ruthless Records to release a 10th Anniversay Edition of the album. Numerous unreleased tracks, remixes and demos for the album exist. Ruthless Records, Bone's former record company, has in the past released unreleased and rare songs in the form of two "Collections" released in 1998 and 2000, the first going platinum and the second also selling quite well.
No doubt an anniversary edition of "E. 1999 Eternal" would sell a considerable amount. Bone's most recent release, "Greatest Hits" (Ruthless), has sold over 110,000 copies with little promotion.
Bone's style on the album - as can be inferred by the 'harmony' in their group name - relies quite a bit on highly-overdubbed vocals and incredible melody and thus is a great candidate for a release in the SACD (or SACD Hybrid) or DVD-Audio (or Dual-Disc) formats in a 5.1 mix. Imagine the possibilities with this album!
Nas's "Illmatic" and Notorious B.I.G's "Ready To Die", both also mid-90s rap classics, were re-released last year in 10th anniversary special editions and sold an incredible amount. Ruthless would be crazy to pass up this oppurtunity!
