Boycott Carphone Warehouse

In continuing to support Channel 4 and Big Brother you have shown where your loyalties truly lie. You have no regard for the feelings of your consumers or the wider public and have spat in the face of the Asian and black community in exchange for profit.

An email was sent to you on the 16th of Jan 2007 indicating the dismay that was felt about the treatment of Shilpa Shetty in the Big Brother House.
This reply was received from you, on the 17th:

As a business we are against racism in any shape or form. As sponsor of
Celebrity Big Brother, we have no involvement in the content of the
programme, but Channel 4 takes these allegations very seriously and will
ensure that they are dealt with in the appropriate way.

Encouraging but unfortunately utterly false as reported in the Guardian dated 17th Jan 2007 :

'The mobile phone company (Carphone Warehouse) is said to have sought assurances from Channel 4 that it will tone down the casting and editing of the long-running reality show, to place less emphasis on extreme characters.

Interesting that you say you have no involvement over content. You clearly have. Thirty million reasons to be involved. With this amount of leverage you choose, as a business that is "against racism in any shape or form", to do what?

Instead of pressuring Channel 4 to stop the bullying or reprimand the culprits, you seek to have it re-edited so the public doesn't see this vile behaviour. Vile behaviour you seem to condone by your continued sponsorship and attempts to hide.

I will be cancelling my contact with your company and asking my friends and family to do the same I will also be bulk mailing this petition to everyone in my inbox. If common sense and decency is not enough to make you act responsibly then maybe we can kick you where it really hurts. In your profits.
