We, the undersigned, are concerned about the sources of cotton used to manufacture clothing on the market today. We are particularly concerned with the practices for cotton gathering in Uzbekistan, where there is concrete evidence that child labour is commonplace. We petition all clothes retailers to:
Avoid procurement of Uzbek cotton until such time that child and forced child labour are eradicated from the production process.
Develop an effective product labelling system guaranteeing that neither child nor forced child labour is used at any stage of clothing manufacture.
