Bring Back Biking at Sunday River

The mountain biking community of New England (and beyond) was once spoiled with world-class trails at Sunday River. After the lifts shut down at The River, many bikers were left without a home mountain. Some went elsewhere, where the riding and terrain would not be able to match that of The River's. Others stayed local and decided the trails were so good they had to be hiked in order to ride them.
Either way, the lift-serviced mountain biking at Sunday River was a huge loss to the biking community after it closed.
When you are riding the lift at a different resort (such as Killington, VT or even as far away as Plattekill, NY) you will ask other riders where have they ridden. Often, you will get riders that say Sunday River and then continue to talk about how the current riding and trails don't compare to the former riding at the river. Many of the younger riders in the mountain bike community never had the pleasure of riding at Sunday River; but now that they are old enough, I am sure they would love it just as much as past people of all ages have, just as I am sure many people would reclaim or claim Sunday River as their home mountain.
There is a demand in New England for good places to ride. Highland Mountain Bike Park is a recently opened mountain for biking and they seem to be doing quite well. I am sure Sunday River could do that same. There is currently no where in the state of Maine to ride unless you hike to do the riding. If Sunday River opened back up, even if it were just for weekends and holidays, I am sure people would show up. I am sure many volunteers would show up to do trail work. The biking community loves and misses Sunday River.
