Bring Fertility Clinic to Sudbury, Ontario!

For all of us living in Northern Ontario suffering with infertility, it is not always easy to travel down to Barrie, Toronto, Hamilton, etc. to complete fertility treatments.  Between full-time jobs, families and other responsibilities of every day life, it's not always possible.  

The costs of fertility treatments are very expensive to begin with and to have the added costs of transportation, hotels and time off work, it makes it nearly impossible for some people that deserve to become parents to have a child of their own.

Fertility clinics should be more accessible to Northern Ontario residents.  We have a brand new, huge hospital that contains the Northern Cancer Center (providing a central location for all Northern Ontario residents to recieve cancer treatments) and we have the Sudbury Memorial Hospital which is not being used to same capacity that it once was.  Why can't the government provide us Northerners suffering with the heartbreaking journey of infertility a central location for fertility treatments?

There are so many families out there who are fortunate enough to be able to have children of their own, but use the welfare system as a career choice.  The government doesn't make those abusing the welfare system complete drug testing, provide proof of where their money is being spent and the government pays these individuals even MORE money when they have even more children.  So, why can't the people who can afford to have children of their own but are unable to travel to Southern Ontario get a little bit of help too?  We're not asking for much.  We're not asking for a hand out.  We're not asking for financial support.  We're not asking for anything but the opportunity to become the parents we deserve to be.  

The government also keeps promising to provide funding for one cycle of IVF to Ontario residents but never follows through.  When and if that finally happens, that's wonderful for those living close to fertility clinics and for those residents of Northern Ontario who are able to travel multiple times a month out of town.  But what about those of us with demanding careers?  What about those of us with responsibilities that can not be left to travel out of town?  IUI and IVF treatments aren't just one or two appointments and BAM! you're pregnant.  IUI and IVF treatments require many appointments for blood work, ultrasounds, insemination, egg extraction, etc. in a month.  If you have a 3-6 hour drive ONE WAY to get to those, say, 7 or 8 appointments a month, it's just not always reasonable.  

Please sign this petition to give the Northern Ontario families a fertility clinic in Sudbury Ontario & help us become parents!  We all deserve to know that kind of love.
